December 2 by Amy Campbell

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."John 1:14

When I think of Christmas and the Bible, I think of the moment I knew I was falling in love with Chris. We had just started seeing each other and I was home in Michigan for Christmas. My sister and my parents had had an awful fight on Christmas day and it just didn’t feel like Christmas around our house. I made the comment to Chris on the phone that we hadn’t even read the Christmas story from the Bible, which had always been an important tradition. After a while, I said I’d let him go since it was getting late. He told me to wait a second and then I heard some of the most beautiful words come from his mouth. “In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken…” Chris read me the story of Jesus’ birth!

John 1:14 calls Jesus the Word. I’m sure every one of us has a Bible or 12 in our homes. We often hear the Bible called the word of God. This verse calls Jesus The Word. We have Jesus in our homes! We have the most powerful words ever written at our fingertips!

The word has power because it comes from the most powerful place of all! Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world! Jesus came and dwelt among us! He left the glory and beauty of heaven to live as a lowly man so that we could be saved! He came full of grace and truth! Now isn’t that the best reason for the season ever!
