Our Story

Meadowood Baptist Church has a rich history of serving the Midwest City-Del City area, and we are grateful for the grace God has extended to us throughout more than 50 years of ministry in this community and around the world.

Members from First Baptist Church of Midwest City started Meadowood Baptist Mission August 4, 1963. These members first met at the Midwest City YMCA and then Cleveland Bailey Elementary School as the congregation began to grow.

In 1964, the Oklahoma Baptist Association donated land across from the YMCA to the growing congregation, and the congregants built an A-frame chapel with classrooms. The first services were held in the new chapel October 18, 1964. At the end of January 1965, Meadowood Baptist Mission was declared a “constituted Baptist church,” and became Meadowood Baptist Church.

In the decades following, Meadowood has grown to have many outreach ministries including a Literacy and International Ministries, a bus ministry, Intercessory Prayer Ministry, youth ministry including a separate youth building The Rock House, children’s ministry, ESL ministry and weekly Spanish-language services. In addition, Meadowood created and supports Mission Mid-Del, a local mission serving the needy in eastern Oklahoma county. This mission includes many outreach programs such as Master’s Market Food and Clothing Pantry, Cars For Work, Healing Hearts Clinic and Whiz Kids, a faith-based after school tutoring and mentoring program for inner-city students reading below grade level.

Like any church of similar age, Meadowood has seen a myriad of changes in our staff and facilities, the surrounding community and the culture as a whole, but the church continues its mission to share the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ with every person we are able.

Today, Meadowood strives to provide a warm place for all people to hear and respond to the gospel as we depend on Jesus together in the work of declaring God's Word, developing disciples and deploying the church for His glory.

“And this is my prayer, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God."
