That's a Wrap!: The First Semester of Awana

awanafeatured

Wow! The first semester of our revamped Awana program has come to an end and what a semester it has been! It did not start as smoothly as we had planned.

With the storm damage to the Worship Center and the Fellowship Hall not being available for our use, we were left scrambling at the last minute to find classroom assignments and a schedule that would work for our different age groups. It meant moving our Game Time upstairs to a smaller space. It meant groups had to be combined. It meant being flexible. With everything though, our leaders have made the best of it all and been a huge support to me and others.

Though it has not been the easiest start, we have seen amazing growth.

We have seen a growth in attendance. We had 44 clubbers the first week and we now have 67 clubbers enrolled. We have also seen growth in Biblical knowledge. Clubbers have been hard at work memorizing scripture and completing sections. We give awards for completed sections and that is exciting for the children. What is more exciting is the lifelong knowledge of Christ and His word that these children are placing in their hearts and minds! Each club night in Large Group, we teach Bible stories and explain Biblical truths so that the children aren’t just memorizing words but are learning why they are important. It is beautiful to see Kingdom work unfolding around me!

As we go into the holiday season, I hope you are all remembering to stop and think about the words we say and sing. Let us pray for joy and peace to the world. Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas day to save us all from Satan’s power when we were gone astray. O come let us adore Him! And let us all remember that Jesus truly is the Reason for the season!

Merry Christmas everyone! I am excited to see what God will do through Awana and Meadowood Kids in the new year!
