RECOGNIZING THE EVENT

Reading: Luke 2:40, 52

“And the child grew and became strong and was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.  He found favor with God and man.”

What a statement to be said about someone!  Yes, Jesus was both God and man, and scripture reminds us in Hebrews 2:18, “For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted.   He is able to relate to and help those that are tempted.”

I think about ADVENT and the arrival of a notable person or event.  The promised Messiah has arrived!  Could Bethlehem recognize the event that just took place!  In a lowly cattle stall, straw as a bed, poverty all around, would I have recognized the magnitude of the moment?  Yet, when I go through this journey called life, how often do I fail to recognize the working of God in my own live.  Do I experience God’s working in my struggles, joys, relationships, successes?  Or am I content in my comforts, as those in the inn were?

I ask as we once again go into December, winter solstice, Christmas, and New Year, that we not forget that the event of “Christ with us” did indeed happen.  A young virgin girl was chosen by God to bring the Savior of the world into view.  People enjoying the comforts of the inn missed God being born in a manger.  Just Mary and Joseph.  Yes, they knew this child was a miracle born of a virgin.  Mary had the privilege of birthing the Christ, teaching Him to walk and talk.  Don’t let this season pass you by and miss the reason we celebrate!  Don’t fail to recognize Him as He comes along beside giving encouragement, comfort, and GRACE.  May we each grow strong, being filled with wisdom and finding favor with both God and man.

For further reading. . . you don’t want to miss the EVENT 32 years later; read about this very important event in Luke Chapter 24.
