OBHC Back-To-School Dinner Event

Do-Something-logo

Each summer, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OHBC) hosts a back-to-school style show to help raise funds that provide clothing and basic needs for Oklahoma children heading to school in the Fall, and 2021 looks to be another big year to support this cause.

This event will be hosted August 7 at 5:30pm by the Embassy Suites in Norman, OK (2501 Conference Dr). Tickets can be purchased by calling the number below or you can reach out to Amy Young, Meadowood's contact for OBHC events and activities.

From OHBC:

The purpose of our Back-to-School Dinner Event is to create awareness for Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children and the children in care. With the money raised, a special fund is set up to provide yearly clothing and other basic needs for the children at the campuses located in Oklahoma City and Edmond.

This event creates revenue through individual sponsorships, business sponsorships, reserved tables and group fundraising through our goal sheets program. At the event, men and women will be able to participate in the silent auction starting at 4:00 pm, enjoy a fabulous meal at 5:30 pm, and be entertained by our witty emcee, Ed Murray, as we watch awesome children beam with excitement, modeling their favorite outfit for school or church.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Purchase a ticket for only $20, or reserved tables for 10 are available. Individual tickets may be purchased for $20 by calling our office at (405) 735-8343.

A note from Shonda...

Do you consider yourself a hero? Some think they must do something big in order to make an impact. They believe they do not have the right skills or social status, therefore are incapable of doing something extraordinary for Christ. However, our hero status is not dependent on our human power. Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We do not have to be something extraordinary in order to do something; because, at salvation, God empowers us to be heroes for His kingdom. God called us to love others as Christ loves us, and to show His love by helping people who cannot help themselves. Despite our human abilities, He has given us all a big purpose and the power to achieve that calling. God uses ordinary people in super ways.

By being a sponsor and volunteer, you decide to do something for children and families during a time they need you. Through your example, they will learn how to be heroes in the hands of God. Being heroes is about doing what you can right where you are. Next time you are wondering, “what can you do?” Remember God created you to be His hands and feet - to step up and do something - for the lives of children and families. No act is too small.

Let‛s do something.
