SPECIAL NOTES: On December 1, we will take up a special "first fruit" offering specifically for World Missions. Also, because of the holiday, Meadowood members will vote on the 2025 budget on December 8.

A Little Opportunity for a Big Change

occfeaturedevent

Sometimes the smallest things can have a tremendous, eternal impact.

Each year, Meadowood and many other churches partner with Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child, an annual drive to provide Christmas gifts for children around the world who might not get to experience the holiday.

But it’s always, always about much more than a box packed with trinkets, toys, stickers and socks.

This is gospel work.

Recipients typically have little access to the story of salvation through Christ, and these gifts offer a load of fun but also an avenue for the gospel to be heard.

A shoebox you stuff and send may be exactly what God uses to transform the life of a child, a family, a community, even a nation.

As you are preparing your own holiday festivities, we invite you to join Meadowood in this special work of grace as we collect shoeboxes filled with small but useful (and fun) gifts for children around the world.

But, there’s more!

Meadowood isn’t just a participant. The church also serves as an area dropoff location, where other individuals, families and churches can bring their completed shoeboxes for shipping. Thousands of boxes will be collected and shipped through the efforts of this local team.

Whether you are able to stuff a shoebox or not, you could just as faithfully sacrifice your time by helping with the collection and loading process on the dates above. There could be more than three trailers to fill just from this one regional collection, and we would love (and need) your help in completing the task.

For the next couple of weeks, you are invited to grab a shoebox—at the OCC table just outside the Fellowship Hall or from Meadowood office staff—and fill it for the gender and age range you select according to the guidelines provided by Samaritan’s Purse.

Then, pray over your shoebox offering and bring it back to the church or drop it off at The Rock House during the collection week Nov.. 18-25.

"Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me." — Matthew 25:40b

You may never know the impact your gift will have, but it is a great opportunity to share the gospel, perhaps for the first and only time, with someone who's never had the chance to respond to such good news.
